Voice Professionals

We provide precise, comprehensive care for people who use their voices for a living. If you’re a singer, voiceover artist, motivational speaker, teacher, call center worker, or other professional who uses their voice in their work, we can help you maximize your voice.

Laryngeal Cancer

Every cancer treatment plan is different. We work hand-in-hand with others on our Head and Neck Cancer team and other specialists to provide each patient with a customized plan to treat the cancer and restore vital functions like speaking and swallowing. We offer precision KTP and CO2 laser surgery which can help patients to avoid radiation.

Airway

When you feel like you can’t breathe, it can be a scary experience. It can even affect your overall health and quality of life. We can treat:

  • Bilateral vocal fold paralysis
  • Laryngeal stenosis
  • Tracheal or subglottic stenosis
  • Upper airway scarring/narrowing
  • Pediatric airway disorders
  • Chronic throat clearing
  • Chronic coughing
  • Behavioral breathing disorders, known as:
    • Vocal cord dysfunction (VCD)
    • Paradoxical vocal fold motion (PVFM)
    • Induced laryngeal obstruction (ILO)
    • Exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction (EILO)

Swallowing

Often, food is more than just nourishment—it’s a connection to our friends and family, too. When you notice a change in your swallowing, like coughing or choking while eating and drinking, it can be alarming and isolating. Our team treats swallowing problems such as:

  • Tight upper esophageal sphincter
  • Cricopharyngeal bar
  • Zenker’s diverticulum
  • Choking/coughing due to vocal cord paralysis

For other swallowing problems, ask your doctor to refer you straight to our speech-language pathology team.

Support Groups and Community Outreach

Voice and swallowing problems can be isolating, and we’re passionate about providing connections to others who can relate to what you’re going through. Our current groups offer support to survivors and patients of head and neck cancer and also to patients with spasmodic dysphonia. Contact us to learn more.
